Tom Brake Backs Campaign to Stop New Recycling Site

11.02.01pm GMT Sun 14th Dec 2008

Tom Brake has given his support to residents battling to stop a new private recycling site being granted planning permission off Beddington Lane.

Tom, who met residents on Saturday 6th December in Wandle Banks said, "Within hours of being informed about this application, I went to view the site with Councillor Jenny Slark. I have now formally objected to the plans. I don't consider these proposals to be acceptable either on environmental or safety grounds."

He added, "In my meeting with residents, they stressed their health concerns. I will be contacting the Council and the Environment Agency to see whether there are any recent air quality readings available to see how any additional lorry movements might affect pollution in Beddington Lane."
