Residents left waiting on decision over parking

9.57.57am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 28th Jan 2008

People living in North Road, Highgate are still waiting to find out whether their street will be included in parking controls - months after the Council completed a consultation and a year after inclusion was planned by the Council.

When questioned by the Liberal Democrats at the Full Council meeting last Monday (21.1.08) about why this had taken so long, Labour parking boss Cllr Brian Hayley did not seem to know.

Cllr Neil Williams (Highgate) comments:

"I don't know what's more ridiculous, that it can take the Council half a year to review the findings of a consultation or that they don't know why it is taking so long.

"Some residents in North Road have only been excluded from the CPZ through a cock-up in the first place. They should not be left waiting any longer. I expect the council to take action and get this completed. Completing a consultation involving part of one street in Haringey is hardly the most complex thing the Council has to deal with on a daily basis, so why are they making such a meal of it?"

Notes:

North Road residents were asked in July 2007 whether they wanted to be included in the Highgate Station Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) after the Council Cabinet recommended in October 2005 that they should be included.
