Thames Gateway Being Handled Woefully - Brake

12.01.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 15th Nov 2007

Commenting on today's [Thursday] Public Accounts Committee report into the Government's management of the Thames Gateway project, Liberal Democrat London Spokesperson, Tom Brake MP said: "The Government's woeful handling of this critical project has been rightly condemned.

"Ministers have broken all the basic project management rules: they do not know how much it will cost, whether it represents value for money or who is responsible for what.

"After playing a part in creating the housing crisis in the South East, the Government can't afford to let this development fail.

"A minister must be appointed with real authority to oversee the whole project and put in place a management team with enough clout to ensure the Thames Gateway is a success."
