Taxpayers should not pay for Metronet failure - Kramer

9.01.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 25th Oct 2007

Commenting on the announcement that five senior executives who worked for the failed tube maintenance company Metronet are to receive significant payoffs, Liberal Democrat Shadow Transport Secretary, Susan Kramer MP said: "Paying bonuses for failure adds insult to injury for Londoners.

"This Labour Government must take the blame for these contracts which have left taxpayers facing a huge bill.

"Londoners have been suffering for years because of this failed PPP forced through against their wishes, in a deal which seems to smell worse by the day."
