Burstow encourages local residents to have their say on proposed Post Office closures

Paul Burstow, MP for Sutton and Cheam, is encouraging local residents to get involved in the upcoming consultation process over further possible post office closures.
The consultation process in Sutton is due to commence in April 2008, and will last for 6 weeks. The Government announced that approximately 2,500 post offices and sub-post offices will be closed across the UK in a report in May 2007.
Commenting on these events Mr Burstow said:
"A few years ago, local people joined me in opposing the closure of a number of our post offices.
"Despite our opposition, the government ignored local people and pushed on, denying access to local services and destroying an institution at the heart of our community.
"With 1 in 7 post offices in Sutton possibly facing closure, I strongly urge local residents to have their say in the consultation process to make sure that their concerns are taken into account."
