Denmead School in Hampton organised this week a mock session of the United Nations to negotiate a climate change treaty, with Vincent Cable MP and the Borough's United Nations Association. Pupils dressed up in national costume to represent the various countries involved in the negotiations.

Vincent Cable, who spoke to pupils after their debate said "that the level of knowledge and understanding was impressive. It is not easy for children to get their heads around the complicated science, economics and politics involved in the debate on climate change. But it is one of the most important issues we face, and we all have a role to play; so the sooner the subject is introduced and understood the better. The Borough's United Nations Association did a splendid job shaping a programme for the School and I hope other schools will take it up."
