With events taking place across the Borough this week for Take Part Take Pride, Tom Brake MP for Carshalton and Wallington has been showing he is not afraid to roll his sleeves up.

On Saturday he joined Gwen Gentry, the Secretary of Roundshaw Allotments, her husband and Cllr Peter Wallis and his wife Mary for some lighting digging and planting in the Roundshaw allotments. They helped turn a plot overgrown with weeds into a stunning flowerbed.

On Monday, he joined other volunteers and Council staff for a clean-up of the horse field in Hackbridge, next to Bed Zed. This time the team removed an array of dumped items; from a bicycle wheel to a shopping trolley.

Tom Brake said, "It is astonishing how much a small team can do when they put their backs into it. Thanks to our efforts, the Borough is now a greener and cleaner place."
