Hollywood hits the cycle path in Sutton school- Burstow4.56.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 29th May 2007 Paul Burstow, MP for Sutton and Cheam, visited Robin Hood Junior School last week to see their entry for the Sutton and Merton School Film Festival. The student's film will be based on cycle paths, an issue which the children felt was important to their age group. The students are involved in all aspects of the process, from operating cameras to direction. Ecolocal - a Sutton based charity - and Glenthorne High School jointly donated £150 to buy the filmmaking equipment. The closing date for the film competition is the 20th June. Commenting after the visit, Paul Burstow MP said: "This project is a great example of ways that children can be energised and enthused at school." "Activities such as this help children to develop useful skills and learn about the local area, while having still fun." "I was delighted to find that the children have chosen to focus on cycling - it really shows that the borough's young people are interested in tackling climate change." "I look forward to seeing the finished film and to watching the student's progress in the competition"
