MP Backs Residents On 'Race Track' Road At Coombe Lane West

6.02.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Sun 29th Apr 2007

Calls to tackle speeding cars on Coombe Lane West are being backed by local MP Susan Kramer. Susan Kramer met recently with residents and saw the problems for herself and has written to the council and Transport for London to seek a solution.

Coombe Lane West is one of the main access routes to Kingston Town Centre.

Susan Kramer said:

"Some drivers use this road like a race track and sooner or later someone is going to be injured or killed.

"There have been incidents of cars crashing into walls and residents' cars damaged. Recently a bus stop was hit by a car.

"After Thursday's meeting of Maldens and Coombe Neighbourhood Committee it is clear that a solution has to be found and I hope that the council's traffic engineers can come up with a way forward.

"I am also pursuing the issue with TfL to see if anything can be done with speed cameras but the current rules are hampering this."
