Kramer Slams Waste Of Junior Doctor Talent

3.50.08pm UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 27th Apr 2007

Richmond Park MP Susan Kramer has slammed the shameful waste of junior doctor talent in the wake of the mess up in the jobs.

Her comments came as she supported a lobby of Parliament by members of the profession who feel let down by the chaotic jobs application process.

Susan Kramer said:

"Faced with bureaucratic incompetence, many will go abroad and be lost to the UK.

"This is a crying waste. Junior doctors who we will need as specialists in the future are about to be forced out of the country or out of medicine.

"This is a shameful.

"Individual doctors have spent years in hard study but will also harm health care in future years as our hospitals will be short of experienced specialists and surgeons.

"I hope the Government will halt and fix the process, but at the very least it should give assurances to all junior doctors left without jobs that they have a realistic opportunity to try again in a proper system next year."
