Kramer Asks Local Police To Keep Watching Brief On Safer Neighbourhood Rotas

2.26.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 23rd Apr 2007

Local MP Susan Kramer is to ask the local police to ensure that changes to Safer Neighbourhood Team rotas will be kept under review if patterns of crime require Sunday shifts.

She recently took the issue up with the new Borough Police Commander Rick Turner and is due to have her first meeting with him in May.

Susan Kramer said:

" The police are saying that patterns of crime are lower on Sundays and that they receive fewer calls from residents. This may be the case across the borough but there may be variations within local wards.

"My concern is that as we move into the long summer days we will see changes to the patterns and could end up with more anti social behaviour caused by activities like excessive drinking.

"I will be asking Commander Turner about how this will be monitored so that rotas can be kept under review."
