MP Warns On Night Flights Change

2.24.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 23rd Apr 2007

Short term changes to night flight patterns at Heathrow could give residents a flavour of the shape of things to come according to local MP Susan Kramer. BAA is allowing additional landings during the peak early morning and evening periods while new air traffic control building operations bed down at Terminal 5.

The MP thinks that the increased noise between 5 am and 6am and after 11.30pm at night will mean more misery for residents even though, at this stage, it is a temporary measure.

Susan Kramer said:

"We have been expecting a consultation on runway alternation and issues like the 3rd runway and a possible sixth terminal at Heathrow for some time.

"This temporary increase in flights early in the morning and late at night show us what it could be like in the future if our communities don't take a stand on this whole issue of patterns of flights and Heathrow expansion."

Susan Kramer has recently attended a Project Heathrow Watch where other MPs were present and she has been told the consultation will start in September.

She is stepping up her campaign now in readiness for the autumn.

Susan Kramer added: "I would urge people to log onto my website www.susankramer.org.uk and register for Heathrow updates.

"Also if the current increase in early morning and late night flights is disturbing anyone they should email: noise_complaints@baa.com"
