3.45.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 23rd Apr 2007

Paul Burstow, MP for Sutton and Cheam, last week visited Sutton's newly refurbished and re-launched Jobcentre Plus. The Jobcente - which opened on 9th January in Helena House on Sutton High Street - offers local people an integrated service in an improved environment.

Sutton Jobcentre Plus is an amalgamation of the old Jobcentre and Social Security service for Sutton Borough. It will provide a service to over 4,500 local people, including those on Jobseekers Allowance, Income Support and Incapacity Benefit. It will also deliver services through Disability Employment Advisers, Lone Parent Advisers and the New Deal.

The office has 2 employer suites/private interview rooms to facilitate frequent recruitment activities for large and medium-sized employers.

Commenting after visiting the Jobcentre, Paul Burstow MP said:

"It was a great pleasure to attend the launch of the area's new Jobcentre, which will be a great asset to our area.

"Bringing information on benefits and on new jobs together under one roof will be a great improvement for those who need these services."

"I wish the staff at the new facility the best of luck in their plans to improve the lot of the unemployed here in Sutton."
