House Prices Stopping People From Getting On Property Ladder

12.24.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 29th Jan 2007

Richmond Park MP Susan Kramer has expressed concern about house price increases in the Richmond Park area. The latest annual figure shows a rise of 12 per cent across the constituency.

Susan Kramer said:

" The housing market is still crazy and I don't see how first time buyers and young families are supposed to get their feet on the first rung of the housing ladder.

"I am also concerned about the lack of affordable social housing in the area and I am meeting Threshold, one of the local rented sector providers, to talk about the problem later this week.

"Vince Cable, Ed Davey and myself all have concerns about the impact on our constituents when they are trying to find a place to live locally and have been priced out by the property prices.

"That is why we are holding a joint meeting with Threshold."
