Tom Brake Speaks in High School Celebrations Evening

12.20.00pm GMT Sat 9th Dec 2006

Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington, participated in a celebrations evening at Stanley Park High School on 30 November. The purpose of the evening was to reward students at the school for their academic and other achievements over the past year.

During the course of the evening pupils, parents, teachers and Governors were treated to a very lively and vibrant African drums performance from pupils in the newly formed music department.

Mr Brake was highly impressed by the pupils' enthusiasm. He noted how "vital it is to recognize the efforts and achievements of schoolchildren in order to encourage them to pursue even greater challenges later in life."

Stanley Park High School will experience a major transformation in the next few years when a new school will be built at a cost of no less than £20 million. The Governors have pledged to make the school one of the most environmentally friendly in the country with a first-rate studying environment for students.
