London LibDems celebrate 2006 by-election hat-trick

1.31.52am UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 8th Dec 2006

London's Liberal Democrats are tonight celebrating a "hat-trick" of council by-election wins after taking a seat from Labour in Camden.

Last night's result, in the Kentish Town ward of Camden, gave LibDem candidate Ralph Scott a convincing win yet saw Labour pushed into third place, with the Conservatives trailing in a sorry fourth place

The LibDems have taken all three 2006 London by-elections; with Paul Scott winning Harrow Weald in August, Irfan Mustafa taking Redbridge's Clementswood ward in November and now Ralph Scott winning the Kentish Town seat.

The full result in Kentish Town was Lib Dem (Ralph Scott) 1093; Green 812; Labour 808 and Conservative 198.
