World's Biggest Coffee Morning for Cancer Charity

5.28.00am GMT Fri 6th Oct 2006

Several groups of local residents gathered to support Macmillan, the cancer care charity, in a series of simultaneous coffee mornings across the country.

Vincent Cable MP joined residents at St Theodore's RC Church in Hampton and said: "For those of us who have had to make use of palliative care for our loved ones, Macmillan nurses are a fantastic support. Most people with advanced cancer want, I think, to be with their families rather than in the more impersonal environment of a hospital. But this is only possible if there is good, reliable personal care, which Macmillan nurses provide."
