Hampton Schools Together for MP's wife's Memorial Concert

1.45.22pm GMT Tue 26th Sep 2006

This year various schools from Hampton will collaborate in a charity concert, in honour of Olympia, the late wife of MP Vincent Cable. The concert is to be held at Hampton Community College on Sunday 8th October at 2.30pm. Funds raised will go to the Shooting Star Children's Hospice.

The concert will feature soloists and groups from seven primary and secondary, independent and maintained, schools in Hampton.

Vincent Cable said that this was the fourth such concert which had been organised in the memory of his late wife who was a well known music teacher in the borough: "there is a wealth of musical talent in the borough's schools and I am keen to see children given the opportunity to perform in public. Since HCC has recently been awarded Specialist School Status for the performing arts it is appropriate that the concert should be held there. Hampton has a concentration of very good schools of different kinds and we have brought them together to help another valued Hampton institution: the Shooting Star Hospice."
