Blair Unlocked Doors Comment Extraordinary - Hunter

11.32.00am GMT Mon 21st Aug 2006

Responding to Sir Ian Blair's comments to the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies on leaving front doors unlocked, Liberal Democrat Home Affairs Spokesperson, Mark Hunter MP said: "It is truly extraordinary to imply that Londoners can safely leave their front doors unlocked.

"Many Londoners will feel uneasy that the top police officer entrusted with tackling crime in the capital could be so out of touch.

"Neighbourhood policing may be helping to cut crime, but burglary is still a serious threat, and there is no reason for people to stop taking sensible precautions."
