Davey's Card Competition: It's Beginning to Look a Lot like Christmas12.12.40pm GMT Wed 2nd Aug 2006 Edward Davey, Liberal Democrat MP for Kingston and Surbiton, has announced his sixth annual Christmas card competition. The competition invites budding young artists from across the constituency to design Edward Davey's official Christmas card, which will be sent to over 1,000 people all over the country. The winner will also be invited to take tea on the Terrace of the House of Commons with the MP. Edward Davey said, "This year's theme is 'Christmas in Kingston and Surbiton.' It is quite a broad topic, so I encourage people to be as imaginative and creative as possible! "To help schools plan before the start of term, I decided to write to them earlier this year. I have already written to every school in my constituency, urging them to take part. For the first time this year the competition is also open to Scouts and Guides. "Every year, I love sifting through the many creative entries, and everyone on my Christmas mailing list tells me how much they enjoy the cards. I can't wait to see what Kingston and Surbiton's young artists have in store for me this year!" ENDS Notes to editors Edward Davey MP's Christmas card competition has three age groups: 4-6; 7-10; and 11-15 year olds. The age of each entrant is determined as at 1st September 2006. The deadline is Friday, 13th October 2006 and every entry should have the student's name, age, class and school written clearly on the back for ease of return. All entries need to be sent to the constituency office at 21 Berrylands Road, Surbiton KT5 8QX.
