Teather given top education post by Campbell

Sarah Teather MP has been promoted to Shadow Education Secretary by Sir Menzies Campbell

Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has been promoted to Shadow Liberal Democrat Education Secretary by Liberal Democrat Leader Sir Menzies Campbell MP.

Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather said:

"I'm delighted to be taking up this position. I have taken an active interest in education issues in Brent since being elected be it schools, colleges or higher education. I look forward to being able to use my position to represent local issues in Parliament.

"In this country, the most important predictor of your educational achievement is your parents income, and the gap between rich and poor is actually getting worse. We need an educational system that caters for all our young people.

"My work for local residents will always come first I will continue to hold six surgeries a month and have an office in the heart of my constituency that is open five days a week."
