MAYOR'S 'COOL TUBE COMPETITION' WAS JUST A LOAD OF HOT AIR

1.00.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 19th May 2005

Commenting on the failure of Transport for London and the Mayor to find a winner of the 'Cool Tube competition', Liberal Democrat London Assembly Transport Spokesperson, Lynne Featherstone, said:-

"The huge delay in announcing that there was no winner finally tells Londoners that this so called competition was nothing more than a gimmicky load of hot air dreamt up by the Mayor's spin-doctors."

ENDS

London Underground and Ken Livingstone ran a 'competition' to see if anyone can come up with an innovative and workable solution to keeping the Tube cool. There was a total prize fund of £100,000 available if such a solution could be found. The closing date was the 12th September 2003
