Sarah Teather has been chosen by Brent East Lib Dem members to fight the next General Election

Local Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Teather has been unanimously re-selected by Brent Liberal Democrats to fight the next General Election. In front of a packed audience Sarah Teather was joined by Liberal Democrat Party President Simon Hughes MP.

Commenting on her re-selection Sarah Teather MP said:

"I'm obviously delighted to be re-selected by the Brent East membership. I will be fighting the General Election proud of my party's opposition to the war with Iraq, post office closures and tuition fees.

"There is much work that I want to continue in Brent East such as our campaign to get the local area cleaned up. Too often local people are let down by the Labour Council, rubbish is left uncollected, our streets are dirty and there is too much graffiti.

"I will continue to take the fight to the Labour Government over issues such as Belmarsh and detention without trial, the local housing crisis and ID cards.

"Brent East is a wonderful place to live and work, I is a privilege to be able to serve as the local MP."

Liberal Democrat Party President Simon Hughes MP said:

"Sarah has been a fantastic ambassador for the people of Brent East. She has campaigned hard both locally and in Parliament to get things done for her constituents. Sarah has an impressive record as a local MP. All Liberal Democrats are proud of her.

"We have been the real opposition to the Labour government on all the vital issues - Iraq, ID cards and detention without trial in Belmarsh. The next General Election will be a great opportunity for our party in Brent and across the country."
