Simon and Paul Bursow MP discuss measures to tackle anti-social behaviour

Local MP Paul Burstow, Lib Dem London Mayoral candidate Simon Hughes and London Assembly Member Graham Tope who went and talked to John Deer, Security and Constabulary Manager for Environment and Leisure from LBS about tackling anti-social behaviour and graffiti in local parks.

Simon Hughes said:-

"It is the low level crimes like graffiti and anti-social behaviour that blights the lives of Sutton residents. There needs to be both a carrot and stick solution. The carrot of giving local youngsters things to do rather than simply being bored in parks. And the stick of ensuring that there is a highly visible police presence across the Borough.

"When I am elected Mayor, I will work with the Sutton Council and local MP's Paul Burstow and Tom Brake to ensure there are activities for local children. I also give my pledge that there will be a Minimum Policing Guarantee by 2008 of 8 uniformed officers in every ward of Sutton."

"Sutton residents need to ask themselves a simple question. What has Mr Livingstone done for Sutton in the last four years and what did Mr Norris do for Sutton in the 4 years he was a Transport Minister for London? I want to offer a fresh, exciting and new style of Mayor that works for both inner and outer London to bring a greater London."
