LEADING LIB DEMS VISIT HEADWAY HOUSE6.06.29pm GMT Fri 26th Mar 2004
London Lib Dem mayoral candidate, Simon Hughes MP visited Headway House in Tower Hamlets on Tuesday 23rd March accompanied by London Lib Dem Euro-MP Baroness Sarah Ludford and local candidate for the London Assembly Guy Burton. "Headway House does excellent work both in promoting understanding of all aspects of brain injury and providing support to those who have acquired brain injury" said Simon. "I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and found Headway House to be a very welcoming, and extremely encouraging place." Sarah Ludford added "Richard Morrison, Miriam Lantsbury and their team are making a real impact on the lives of those that attend Headway House. I hope Headway House continues to go from strength to strength and that similar centres are set up elsewhere in London to replicate their achievements." During the visit Darren Hutson, one of the attenders at Headway House performed a rap which he had written for the occasion: "Okay so youre Simon Hughes I say welcome to Headway News Im a rapper yes I am Harold who raps with Me hes not here So Im a rapper from Headway East And I come with every beat Im here today to say some words Now you are trying to be the Mayor Well Im from Barking and that's in Essex My name is Darren and that's my message" Written by Darren Hutson and performed to Simon Hughes and Sarah Ludford MEP during their visit to Headway House on 23 March 2004. Headway East London is a voluntary organisation that aims to improve the quality of life for people with acquired brain injury, their families and carers.
