Simon has welcomed decision to postpone decision on the Thames moorings

Commenting on the Downings Road mooring hearing which residents successfully requested an adjournment of the inquiry at Bankside House for the issue to be referred back to the planning committee, Liberal Democrat London Mayoral candidate and Southwark and Bermondsey MP, Simon Hughes, said:

"This morning's decision of the inspector to adjourn the enforcement appeal until after Southwark Council planning committee can deal with the issue is the right decision and welcome.

"Today has shown that breadth of support for moorings on the river and widespread agreement about the sensible way forward. I will continue to play an active part in getting a satisfactory outcome on this important issue to ensure a vibrant future for the Thames."
